Post-op heart patient Manny Flores leads 54 supporters to the summit of Rivington Pike during a 20km hike, raising £3,230 for the Club as a thank you for his successful cardiac surgery
How we spend the monies raised:
As a wholly voluntary organisation, all the Club’s income is spent on the basis of ‘improving the patient experience’ in the North West Heart Centre. Funding is not directly handed over, but is spent on the basis of choices made by the Club committee to purchase equipment and facilities from a ‘wish list’ put forward by the Hospital’s Heart Centre team. Then, once the agreed items have been purchased, the necessary funding is handed over.
Examples of equipment and facilities recently funded (2013 – 2020) :
‘There for you . . .’ patient leaflets
Lumify hand-held echo scanner for high quality ultrasound scans
- 3R-Test arrhythmia event monitors
- Post-surgery booklets, DVDs and CDs
Wifi video head camera for in-theatre use by surgeons as teaching aid to record and transmit operations in progress
- Portable TVs (free to patients) & stands for Critical Care Unit
- Patio furniture & mirrors for Acute Critical Care Unit
- ECG cart for accute coronary care unit
- Minimal access valve replacement instruments
