ABOUT tHE tICKER CLUB

The Ticker Club is a totally voluntary organisation founded by ex-patients who have undergone some form of cardiac or vascular procedure at Wythenshawe Hospital.

Club membership is open to all those who have undergone, or are about to undergo, such procedures, to their families and to all who wish to support the Club’s aims and objectives.

The Club has 3 Main Aims:

The Ticker Club offer support to patients to aim to improve and enhance their experience on their journey through the procedure they have to undergo. Our team of volunteers are able to provide non-medical advice and through our involvement with the pre-operation patient days are available to answer questions from patients about personal recovery. Our team members can be contacted on the mobile number for ongoing information and advice. Patient support is important to the fabric of the charity.

Patient Support

We offer practical advice and moral support to new patients, both before and after surgery, through near-daily visits to all the cardiac wards and outpatient clinics by our trained patient support volunteers or, by special arrangement, privately in their own homes.

PATIENT REPRESENTATION

The Ticker Club represents patients’ interests both within the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) Wythenshawe and in the wider context of regional NHS bodies, the British Heart Foundation (to which the Club is affiliated) and by contact with other patient support groups.

FUNDRAISING

We support all cardiac procedures carried out at Wythenshawe Hospital by raising funds through subscriptions, donations, prize draws and fundraising events. All money raised is spent on facilities and equipment for the Hospital’s heart and vascular units.
