There are many rewarding and flexible ways to volunteer with The Ticker Club. From supporting hospital patients, helping with fundraising events, or sharing your skills behind the scenes, every moment you give makes a real difference to those facing heart conditions.
Since the Club was founded in 1987, we have raised over £1.5 million for cardiac patients at Wythenshawe through fundraising events and activities such as golf days and prize draws, through members’ subscriptions and donations, and through legacies generously left in the wills of Club supporters.
Becoming a fundraising volunteer with The Ticker Club is a fantastic way to make a difference. By helping to organise events or campaigns, you’ll play a vital role in raising funds to support heart patients and their families. Your efforts will directly contribute to providing care, resources, and hope to those navigating their heart health journey.
Had your heart procedure? Feeling the benefit?
Perhaps you’d like to ‘put something back’ by joining our patient support team . . .
You could join us in helping reassure other cardiac patients and their families by becoming a ward or clinic visitor yourself. You would be given the opportunity to join an experienced visitor for ‘taster’ ward and clinic sessions, followed by joint visits for training and guidance until you feel confident in working on your own.

As a wholly voluntary organisation, all the Club’s income is spent on the basis of ‘improving the patient experience’ in the North West Heart Centre. Funding is not directly handed over, but is spent on the basis of choices made by the Club committee to purchase equipment and facilities from a ‘wish list’ put forward by the Hospital’s Heart Centre team. Then, once the agreed items have been purchased, the necessary funding is handed over.
