Fundraising

Since the Club was founded in 1987, we have raised over £1.5 million for cardiac patients at Wythenshawe through fundraising events and activities such as golf days and prize draws, through members’ subscriptions and donations, and through legacies generously left in the wills of Club supporters.

Our fundraising sources include the following:

  • Member’s subscriptions : £10 a year / partners’ joint membership £15
  • An annual Grand Christmas Draw which in 2019 raised over £4,800
  • A monthly Lottery Draw (for details and winners see Newsletters)
  • Group or individual participation in sponsored events such as bike rides, marathons, swims
  • Legacies in a will
  • Donations in lieu of flowers at funerals, or wedding anniversaries or notable birthday gifts
  • The sale of logoed mugs, pens and lapel badges
  • Charity Box collections in local shops and pubs, etc

How we spend the monies raised:

As a wholly voluntary organisation, all the Club’s income is spent on the basis of ‘improving the patient experience’ in the North West Heart Centre.  Funding is not directly handed over, but is spent on the basis of choices made by the Club committee to purchase equipment and facilities from a ‘wish list’ put forward by the Hospital’s Heart Centre team.  Then, once the agreed items have been purchased, the necessary funding is handed over.
